Brewer's Tavern

No one seems to be writing opinion pieces quite the way I would, so I decided to do it myself.

The name? Taverns are places where one goes to discuss the interesting events and things in the world, so this is my tavern.

I will offer my views on politics, economics, and whatever else strikes my fancy.
I will occasionally publish the entire article from another journal for purposes of causing discussion.

Lies, War, and a Supine Press

The theme that seems to be running through all my posts here is that the Bush administration has an agenda which does not make sense for the Nation, that they are implementing that agenda primarily by stampeding the public using lies and half-truths, and that the so-called free media which should be asking what is behind the curtain is instead simply restating the lies and spin handed out by the various administration Public Relations Officers.

The greatest thing that ever happened to the Bush Administration was September 11th. Prior to that they had gotten the tax cut passed, then Bush had gone on a several month vacation and there was real doubt about when Rumsfield or Powell would leave office. They had no domestic agenda other then the tax cut and drilling for oil in ANWAR, while the only foreign policy they had was to pull out of every international agreement the US had entered in the last 50 years outside of NATO.

Since then they have started two wars and been in constant activity. They have a purpose, and they are taking advantage of it. Both wars have been handled superbly by our military, but there has been little or no followup in Afghanistan; and they are clearly standing in Baghdad looking around and asking "Gee. We are here and Saddam is gone. What do we do now?" Oh, and "Hey, why aren't all the Iraqis throwing flowers and waving American flags? Don't they know that we Liberated them??"

If our media won't question them, I certainly will. Someone needs to.
