No one seems to be writing opinion pieces quite the way I would, so I decided to do it myself.

The name? Taverns are places where one goes to discuss the interesting events and things in the world, so this is my tavern.

I will offer my views on politics, economics, and whatever else strikes my fancy.
I will occasionally publish the entire article from another journal for purposes of causing discussion.

 

Redistricting in Texas, Colorado

Josh Marshal offers a bit of perspective on the redistricting efforts by the Republicans in Texas and Colorado. I both states, the effort has come from Washington. The Colorado effort is being pushed by Karl Rove, and the Texas effort by Tom Delay. Also, in both cases the bill was presented at the last minute in a state legislative session in a state which has newly come under Republican control.

Josh also says he is writing an article on the subject, but hasn't yet finished editing it. I am looking forward to the article.
