No one seems to be writing opinion pieces quite the way I would, so I decided to do it myself.

The name? Taverns are places where one goes to discuss the interesting events and things in the world, so this is my tavern.

I will offer my views on politics, economics, and whatever else strikes my fancy.

From Scoop we get this view of what is happening politically in the US.

I agree that the US political establishment has been taken over by a strange group using piles of money and control of major parts of the media. According to several editorials, Grover Norquist has described how the Republicans intend to put all federal taxes on labor while exempting capital from any taxation, which would be rather like what is described in the Scoop article.

How much of the article is hyperbole? Looks to me like a lot less than I would have guessed a year ago.
